CREATING A CRYSTAL PATTERN from a SIMPLE COLOURING METHOD

Affectionately known as 'Five Finger Foam Brush' method, I'll use my fingers to move the colours in the fabric, and bypass having to clean brushes at the end of the colouring process! This colouring method is suitable for use on medium to heavy weight fabrics, and lends itself perfectly as a base for many of our designs. Let's start thinking about this ... there are methods to colour the fabric, and techniques to handle the fabric to create different designs or patterns. The second part of this video is just one of the handling methods I use after the fabrics have been coloured this way. Check out some of the others in my Quick Topics, and in the Introductory Web Workshops. Creating the crystal pattern ... using a tickling action, I move my fingers across the fabric, then press it down firmly so layers of colour form inside all the scrunches during the drying time. WOW! It's hard to wait until it is dry, I know - but you MUST wait! That is what gives the colours time to develop the variations and form the crystal look. Have fun!
