ExpressLink 163 - Tradepoint Atlantic to West Baltimore 𝙈𝘼𝙍𝘾 Onboard recording of a roundtrip on the Route 163 from a bus driver's point-of-view. We'll be traveling from Sparrows Point (Tradepoint Atlantic) to West Baltimore MARC Station. An economic engine and easily the most profitable bus line in the network, this express bus is seen by many as the "Job Train on Wheels" and goes beyond the norm of what a typical express service is attend to do. A by-product of the Route 63, the 163 was established in 2021 as a direct feeder line for West Baltimoreans needing access to the 𝘕𝘌𝘞 hub for jobs in the region. For those who were born before 1999 may already know of Sparrows Point's original purpose but for those not aware of -- a younger generation -- of what used to be on this site, echo the name 𝗕𝗘𝗧𝗛𝗟𝗘𝗛𝗘𝗠 𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗘𝗟 and you may get mixed feelings from those who work and/or lived in the vicinity. Before Tradepoint Atlantic, there was Bethlehem Steel; a major contributor to the industrial revolution that will inevitably shape the America as we know it and a profiteer to the war effort for just about every American war from 1857 & beyond... Now, I could go more in-depth about Bethlehem Steel but this video is about BUSES, so we're staying on script. Tradepoint Atlantic assume control over this site in the early 2010s and have since revitalized a once renown steel mill to a workforce distribution hub. This massive complex is home to the likes of Amazon (3x); The Home Depot; McCormick & Co.; Under Armour; Floor & Decor and much more to come, and lets not forget that it also boast a port for our Bavarian overloads in the auto industry, such as: BMW Group and Volkswagen AG, as well as, the future hub to the British supercar manufacturer, McLaren. Needless to say, this is only the foundation to a much MUCH LARGER project to transform Sparrows Point into satellite city, to the likes of the infamous 'City of Industry' in Los Angeles, California. With all of that information said, it's pretty obvious that the 163 is a VERY significant fixture to MDOT MTA's role in providing access to jobs for the people who wish to chase 'clean' money!... and out of the eight 𝗔𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗼𝗻 distribution centers in the Greater Baltimore region, this bus line serves SIX of them all within 30 minutes.
