(All the gushy details, I love this bit!) We went on a weekend away in Cornwall with Rosie, staying in Port Isaac. One evening at sunset we had had food and drink near the sea and took a walk to a really small port/beach. As we sat on the wall I turned to her and then stood up, she stood up to (I think she thought we were leaving to walk back to the house) but I got down on one knee and told her I loved her and asked her to marry me. She didn't say anything at first and then cried (standard!) but all in a good way - she said yes and it was the most perfect moment. No one else around, just us two. We walked back to the house we were staying in to tell Rosie straight away!! We had gone to Cornwall for our break away because Lyndsey's Dad has a memorial bench down there, a place he loved, which she wanted to visit for the first time in a good number of years. I couldn't ask her Dad for permission (I did her ask mum) but figured that if we were there when it happened she could tell him when we visited his bench in Padstow the next day. This part makes her cry a lot. How did you choose your wedding venue(s)? We saw a few, which were all lovely, but something just clicked when we went to Lillibrooke. We both knew instantly that was the place. What sort of experience do you want your guests to have? After 2 years of waiting, not a disappointing one! ha We have a really close friendship group and we want the day to be filled with memories and love for our friends and family. Can you describe some of the details and stylings, does your wedding have a theme? Very neutral, the venue itself is beautiful on its own so in terms of flowers it's all foliage and white/cream accent flowers. Favours are small pots of local sustainable honey that we've handmade, along with wildflower seeds (we are big on bees!). The table plan and table names are all places we have travelled to together in the last 8 years with a quote/inside joke from our experience there. Bridesmaids are in dusky pink, groomsman are navy with dusky pink accent. What was the hardest decision during the planning? What to do when covid cancelled it (twice!)... i.e. hold out for the big day we wanted or go ahead with the restrictions. We are glad we waited! What advice would you give to couples planning a wedding? Get insurance and make sure it covers pandemics!! Also just enjoy the planning and don't worry about other people - table plans, who's invited, where they are staying... none of that really matters. Don't invite people because you feel you have to; invite people who mean the world to you.
