FE 14mm f/1.8 GM (Shot it in Tokyo Japan) Japan has always been my number one place to go when it comes to holiday. Love the place, people and food. So during the trip, I took 3 lenses with me and one of them is the Sony FE 14mm f/1.8 GM lens. When you visit a busy city like Tokyo. Super wide angle is a must lens to bring. So what’s so good about this lens? First of all, its wide. I mean its super wide. This lens is a perfect lens for Japan. Back in the days ultra angle often often big and slow. It makes you don’t wanna carry it unless you are doing a landscape photography or work. But this Sony 14mm f/1.8 GM only weight at 460g. And it is f/1.8. The only down side would be the lag of the front filter thread. Since the lens is super wide, its kind if make sense you can’t out on an NDs. But as I’m a video shooter. I need my NDs. Instead of using a big Mattbox. I decided to use the gels. Its not the best solution. But it worked. (I might get the Haida Rear Lens ND Filter Kit in the future). Over all, this is an amazing lens. Super sharp even at wide open. I’m glad that I Brought this lens with me in Japan. Things I learnt in Japan Shooting in Japan is super fun. But also can be very challenging. Because you gotta be very careful about the lighting. When I was shooting the Shibuya crossing scene. (FE 14mm Review) There were about 3 to 4 hours the sun just hitting half of the building. Before I didn’t care so much, I just work with it. But now I can’t just leave it and hope that I could recover the highlights and shadows in post. So I waited for couple of hours then go back and do the shots again. I mean that’s only when you have time to go back and re-shoot it. Sometime you can’t even go back as you have next location to go.
