For more on the Sufi Subtle Centers in Danced Zikr go here: https://goo.gl/fTpvSB For an extract of a talk by Pir Zia on the Sufi Lataif go here:    • Pir Zia Sufi Subtle Centers Lataif Edited ...   As one moves through the Sufi Lata’if or Subtle Centres one traverses from the level of the personal and manifest, up through the centres, completing the process with the Latifa Akhfaya, described by Pir Zia as “corresponding to the plane of Hahut, the Absolute, the essence, eternal, silent, infinite, beyond description, totally transcendent, without individuality, differentiation, duality, or boundary. Pure being!”. It is not hard to see the connection between working with the Lata’if and Zikr, the practice of Invocation of Presence. To date I have concentrated on two areas within the Lata’if in applying them to Danced Zikr. First, with practices which provide concentration in turn on the three Heart Lata’if, the Qalb, Ruh and Sirr. The two main examples of this are 16 Heart Open Allah, Allah, Allah (booklet 1) and 32 Zikr of Devotion (booklet 2). One starts from the Moving from the Heart concentration that underlies all these danced zikrs, and develops from there towards the depth and progression that comes in working with the Heart Lata’if. This opens potential for a powerful expansion in the experience of the heart and of the whole being. However, this is a practice that is best worked with in the context of a Sufi Sesshin or Workshop, it is not suited for superficial delivery. The second aspect of the Lata’if I have worked with provides concentration on the Latifa Nafsiya – the subtle centre most closely associated with the ego. If one reads the writings on the Nafsiya in the link above one sees that there is potential for an evolution of the self which parallels the progression towards immersion in the One which is central to Zikr practice. The main example amongst the zikrs in these booklets is 33 Zikr of Surrender. My feeling is that this zikr is helpful in bringing breath and sound concentration and awareness to the Nafs but it is not as deep a practice as the heart centre zikrs described above. A second zikr dealing with the Nafs is 34 Estafirullah Munawir Allah. This is possibly a more powerful zikr but the approach to the concentration is much more on the level of human interaction than on the subtle centre itself. What is most important in doing this form of practice is the experience of each participant in engaging with, exploring, stimulating, activating and feeling the centres, not in thinking about them. This is a very important principle to hold awareness of in attempting to lead a group (or oneself) in these practices. There is enourmous potential for expanding our exploration of the Lataif / Subtl Centres in Danced Zikr and in Zikr walking practices and I encourage other leaders of zikr to join me in this. --- This clip is from a group of playlists covering Andrew Rashid's sharing of his experience in working with, leading and originating Sufi Zikr & Zikr Dance over the past 20 years.
