For National Disability Employment Awareness Month, we spoke with employees who identify as people with disabilities about their experiences working at Columbia. Dr. Benjamin Boudreau, a postdoctoral fellow at Columbia University Irvine Medical Center, focuses on the 24-hour activity cycle paradigm, examining physical activity, sedentary behavior, and sleep patterns to understand conditions like hypertension and atherosclerosis. He values integrating various behaviors to gain a comprehensive understanding of individuals' health. Boudreau, who has autism, appreciates Columbia's inclusive hiring practices, particularly its Project Possibility initiative, which employs people with disabilities. He also fondly recalls running the New York City marathon in 2023, highlighting the support from his colleagues and the broader community.
