They feature a milled receiver, very identical to that of a Galil. This is why the .223 and .308’s are especially desirable in Canada - for the purpose of doing Galil clones. In Canada actual Galil’s are banned, as are all Ak variants with the exception of the Valmet M78 and M88 models. Altering the appearance of a firearm does not change its legal classification in Canada. While this rifle appears to be aesthetically similar to a Galil, it is simply a Valmet m88 receiver with some Galil furnishings to give it the cosmetic appearance of one. These are tight firearms with buttery smooth actions. Some other similar appearing legal firearms are the vz58/cz858 series of rifles and the Chinese Type 81. Valmets are specifically listed as exempt in OIC #13, which is the legislation that created the 12.5 class of prohibited rifles, effectively banning all AK variants with this small exception.
