Adult film star, Anikka Albrite, talks about why human trafficking organizations, doctors, academics, advocates, and performers are speaking out against the Netflix series Hot Girls Wanted: Turned On. Several performers featured in the series did not consent to having their images used, nor were they notified about being part of the documentary. Some performers had private information, such as their legal names and details about where they live, revealed. One performer whose legal name was revealed, has since had her family harassed. Mail containing graphic images of the performers' work was recently received at her mother's home address. Other family members around the country have since received similar mail, and the performer has been harassed online. Making performers' images available globally, without their consent, and in areas that they have restricted is a serious violation of their privacy and puts their safety and the safety of their family members at risk. Documentary filmmakers have an ethical obligation to do no harm to their subjects. Netflix, the producers, and Rashida Jones continue to do harm to the adult film community with each passing day that these performers' images and private information are broadcast around the world.
