As documented in the book Ramallah: History and Architecture, by the Riwaq Conservation Center and the Institute for Palestine Studies (IPS), the structure belonged to the Zaibaq family, a long-established local family whose life centered around agriculture and livestock. The Hosh was built in stages: it started with its oldest part: two attached rural houses, each with a traditional two-level layout: Al-Qaa' (القاع) on the ground floor, which housed livestock, and Al-Rawiyah (الراوية) on the upper floor, where the family lived. It later expanded organically over time to accommodate the family’s evolving needs. Constructed from native Ramallah stone with a distinctive reddish tint, the Hosh reflects sustainable building practices rooted in local materials. Today: A Living Space of Culture and Expression Hosh Al Zaibaq continues to bring people together as a space filled with creativity, music, and shared memory. This special edition of the Delia X Palestine Music Space Session videos beautifully captures the site's most remarkable architectural features and the unique feeling of its open courtyards. Musicians from the Palestine Music Space reflect on how the atmosphere of the Hosh inspires their sound and grounds their work in a deep sense of belonging. Make sure to check out their insights in the interviews at the end of the videos. They offer a heartfelt glimpse into how this historic space continues to shape new creative journeys. Special thanks to: Arch. Yousef Taha from Riwaq - centre for architectural conservation and to the Ramallah Municipality.
