The Titan II missile that launched the Gemini missions into orbit was the only Apollo-era rocket to use hypergols in its first stage, which had the very aesthetically interesting side effect of burning a clear flame. For more on the Titan, check Vintage Space for the latest article on how a missile was repurposed into a manned launch vehicle. (The article will be live Saturday morning - check back for it!)
