GILLIAN

My musical adventure with John Varty has taken me from Boere Musiek to Ballads. I particularly like writing ballads because I have a blue soul, so when he approached me with his demo of the song GILLIAN, which was more narrative than music, I seized the opportunity to write a ballad from scratch…well the chorus and backing instrumentation that is. This is the result. A song dedicated to his beautiful life’s partner, Gillian Van Houten, who the whole country first knew as an SABC presenter, and then for her time with the equally famous wildlife movie maker, John Varty.
