Farm Financial Spreadsheet, Google Sheets: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1tS... Spreadsheet Instructions: If you visit the link above, you should see the Google Sheets spreadsheet. If you're logged into your Google account, you should be able to make a copy of the spreadsheet using File, Make a copy. If you prefer to use Microsoft Excel, you should be able to download an Excel file using: File, Download, Microsoft Excel (.xlsx) Highlights: If you're thinking about starting a farm, and you're wondering about the finances, or you already have a farm, and you need a way to track your income and expenses, this spreadsheet should help get you started. The numbers in my spreadsheet are realistic, but they're also fictitious. You should use your own numbers. Once you have your own copy of the spreadsheet, you can edit the enterprises, budget, income, expenses, etc. The cells with blue text are the ones you probably want to edit. Many of the cells with black text have formulas and should update automatically. WARNING: I'm not an accountant, and this is not financial advice. I'm just trying to give you a jump start on tracking your finances. The spreadsheet is designed to help you answer questions like the following: 1. How much money will your farm make? 2. How much product do you need to produce and sell? 3. How should you price your products? 4. How much can you spend on expenses? 5. What types of expenses can you expect to incur? (Avoid surprises.) 6. How are you doing throughout the year? (above or below your expectation?) 7. Which products are most profitable? Least profitable? 8. What data do you need for your taxes? 9. How will you sell everything that you plan to produce? (marketing) This video provides step-by-step instructions on how to use the spreadsheet.
