We toured Flower Hill Fleeces in Kittanning where Jodi and Matt Horgan welcomed us into their home. We had conversation over coffee, and we learned that they were originally from the suburbs of Pittsburgh. They moved their family to rural northwestern PA, educated themselves on sheep farming operations and now produce small batch hand dyed yarn and one-of-a-kind yarn from their farm's flock of Shetland and Icelandic sheep. It was a pleasure meeting them, touring their farm and being introduced to their herd. Thank you to the Armstrong Conservation District and Congressman Glenn “G.T.” Thompson, chairman of the U.S. Agriculture Committee, for accompanying us. We really enjoyed the cross-functional collaboration with individuals from different departments with different areas of expertise coming together to achieve the common goal of educating our constituents on local farming operations.
