After losing a rudder mid-Atlantic, our search for a replacement turns us into modern-day pirates on a scavenging mission around Antigua. We'd heard of hurricane-damaged catamarans abandoned in a northern marina, and we're determined to see if we can salvage a rudder to get Paikea back to 100%. In this episode, we demonstrate advanced boat handling by sailing off the anchor in a crowded anchorage—a tricky maneuver made even more complex with only one rudder. Then, we take you on a beat up the coast in 25+ knots of wind, with our son Olly acting as navigator through a narrow channel. While our hunt for a spare rudder ultimately proved fruitless, the journey was a masterclass in family seamanship and proving that our kids are capable crew, not just passengers.
