A big part of supporting LGBTQ athletes is finding ways they can support one another. The organization GO! Athletes offers that virtually on a national level, yet athletes still find resources on their own campuses to be important to their growth. Thursday night, Outsports and GO! Athletes hosted a virtual conversation on Zoom with four athletes who have helped create organizations on campus to do just that. They offered their insights and experiences in building these organizations and support networks so that LGBTQ athletes on their own campus can find a place to ask questions, problem solve, and celebrate and support one another. GO! Space is a group dedicated to visible support for LGBTQ equality on campuses from students, administrators and alumni. These individuals are dedicated to making every person feel safer in their respective communities. If you’re a current or former high school or college athlete, you can join GO! Space here. They also talked about how administration and coaches have helped them in their efforts to build these support groups, and also what other assistance they could use. Joining the conversation were: Maggie Grossman, soccer, Fordham Univ. Jaide Hinds-Clarke, basketball, Univ. of Richmond Caroline Mattise, tennis, Monmouth Univ. Jaden Vazquez, football, Fordham Univ
