Let’s go through his passive and abilities, and I’ll give my personal opinion at the end. Passive – His passive has a lot going for it, so I’ll shorten it to the important stuff: he has stacks that buff his Virulence and Ravenous, with a maximum of 100 stacks. If he takes lethal damage, he consumes 15 stacks to health gate. Augment – Abundant Mutation – This augment is needed because he was made at a time when Steel Path didn’t exist, and since his damage scales with stacks, without this augment his ability damage is mediocre. Virulence – His bread-and-butter ability. It’s fine in terms of damage, and you’ll be spamming it a lot to build stacks. Augment – Teeming Virulence – Optional augment that gives him a bit more value and makes him somewhat of a weapon buffer. Larva – It’s just bad. You need 375% range to make it match the range Nautilus does for free, and you need another augment to make it recastable. I swapped it for Ophion’s Eyes from Jade for the massive 10× damage increase on armor-stripped enemies, and his 1 really needs the damage boost. Parasitic Link – 90% DR and status immunity, and it doubles the damage of your 1. By far his best ability. Augment – Parasitic Vitality – A needed augment because the passive augment gives you a 30-second cooldown on your health gate. You’ll need some way to make yourself passively tankier, and this augment does exactly that. Ravenous – Not a great ability, but it does give a bit more damage and tankiness. Augment – Insatiable – Optional augment, but it really speeds up stack generation. Overall – Nidus is in a very bad spot. He is by far one of the slowest frames in the game. His stacking gimmick, while fine on paper, is now outclassed by other scaling frames like Koumei. His ability damage is “fine” at best. He is the biggest victim of the augment system, because his augments actively fix things he lacks, and the third augment even fixes a problem caused by his passive augment. It’s an endless cycle of having a problem, then fixing it, but the fix creates another problem. Overall, he’s in my top 5 frames most in need of a serious rework, because the game evolved around him while he’s only received bandage fixes that make his issues more apparent.
