The latest in a series of webinars focused on the Stop Financing Factory Farming (S3F) campaign, this one specifically tailored for organisations in Latin America. Industrial livestock operations, financed by Public Development Banks (PDBs), are wreaking havoc on the environment, exacerbating social conflicts, and perpetuating animal cruelty. Despite these dire impacts, institutions like the World Bank Group and the International Finance Corporation continue to fund these operations under the guise of “development.” This webinar, co-hosted by Sinergia Animal and the Global Forest Coalition as part of the Steering Committee of S3F will dive deep into the challenges and opportunities for organisations in Latin America to engage in advocacy against PDB financing of industrial livestock. We will explore how these investments contribute to climate change, biodiversity loss, and the destruction of local livelihoods, while also discussing the potential for shifting investments towards sustainable, community-centered farming systems. Participants will have the chance to share their experiences, strategies, and reservations, helping to build a stronger, more unified front against unsustainable livestock farming. Together, we aim to amplify our voices, develop more effective strategies, and foster meaningful collaborations that prioritise both people and the planet. Panellists: Martha Flores.
