It was a #1 hit on the Billboard Country Charts for 8 weeks, but then managed to hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2000, making it one of the most successful country singles of all time. I fell in love with it the first time I heard it, and have had the pleasure of seeing Lonestar perform it live 3 times, and once in 2002 when this song was still very much a regular on pop AND country radio. This is a great example of a nearly perfectly crafted hit song that nobody could have stopped from hitting the top of the charts.
