I will answer this question in 2 parts. One is for your mother and one for siblings. Your mother needs proper eye checkup which includes dilatation where we put drops for 40 minutes to 1 hour. She also needs perimetry or field testing, along with a nerve fiber analysis with a machine called as OCT. After this the right treatment is decided for your mother. We will start with the drops in the initial stages. If necessary, lasers or surgeries are indicated. As for you and your siblings, you should have an immediate dilated eye examination, not just looking at the power. Dilated means putting drops in the eye for 40 minutes to 1 hour and intraocular pressure is also measured. This has to be done even if there is no problems and it has to be repeated every year. The chances of you getting glaucoma is 30 – 50 % considering that one of your parent has glaucoma.it has to be done more often once you cross 40 years of age.it is any routine eye checkup which can be done by any qualified eye doctor or ophthalmologist.
