Hi all. Project started winter 2023 after breaking my foot hiking in the mountains. Long story short, surgery required, recovery sucked, bored to tears. I have some woodworking experience, so new project! I borrowed heavily from vintage vibe custom shop and the chicago electric piano co custom shops. Decided to do my own thing and go the extra mile with hand cut dovetails, and some inticate inlay work with mother of pearl in redwood burl. While my idea is not wholly original, I think it warrants enough merit for an upload. Full disclosure, I am a hobbyist. Why'd you rebuild a "perfectly fine" rhodes? The Mk 1 reeked of mold, and the cabinet was in very rough conditions. Whilst no collector, I have my fair share of oddities and instruments I would like to preserve in good condition! I also purchased a white tape mk ii rhodes that required an extensive restoration, more to follow. For now decided to post my pickup rewind method. intro and outro music is this rhodes with the retro flyer pre amp into my amp modeler/interfase. I like the sound of a champ about to explode, so may be sacrilege to some, but I put a little gain, reverb, and delay. Tremolo through the avion. It's full stereo, but I recorded into my crummy phone interfase mono. Apologies! Gratitude to a few key folks: Muy buddy Daniel Gtz for showing me the way of the electric piano, my wife Adriana for tolerating my hobby, my old man for letting me use his heavy machinery, the team at RTorres Muebles ( Moises for turning, Victor for schooling me, Angel for finish spraying ) , my buddy Rodrigo L for 3D printing some tools for me. Finally my Uncle Juan Carlos for helping me build the pickup winder, winding a whole bunch of pickups, putting them back together, and also helping me make the second dove tail cabinet for my second Rhodes Resto. I'll stop now as you're probably thinking "Bro thinks he won an oscar or some sh" All that being said, if you have vintage gear you want to send or sell my way, hit me up! electricpianomx on the i gram. thanks
