On December 6, 2024. Officers from the UW-Whitewater Police Department were dispatched to a drug complaint after a resident assistant (RA), reported the odor of marijuana coming from a dorm room. As officers arrived, they could smell a light odor of burnt marijuana in the hallway. They knocked on the door and could hear people talking inside of the room. After knocking several times, a female (Hayli) opened the door and allowed officers to enter the room. Upon entering the room and noted that the odor of marijuana got much stronger. There were two males inside who were later identified as Donavhan and Nahcere. Hayli stated that she was the resident of the room and had a roommate who was not present. Officers explained that they were there for the odor of marijuana and all three denied having any marijuana in the room. Nahcere stated that the odor was possibly coming from his coat because some of his friends smoke. When asked, Hayli consented to a search of her half of the room. Hayli was questioned if there was any marijuana or alcohol in the room, and she stated there was not. While searching, an officer began to open a storage ottoman and Hayli stated that she had alcohol in there. Multiple open liquor bottles and several sealed alcoholic beverages were inside. Hayli admitted to being under 21 and knew she wasn't supposed to have alcohol. In the same storage ottoman, officers located a glass jar containing suspected Psilocybin mushrooms. Initially, Hayli stated she did not know what it was and that a friend gave it to her. Officers continued to search and located four disposable THC vapes, THC gummies, and a fake Ohio driver's license that had Hayli's picture, full name, and same birth day (different year making her 21 years old; the legal drinking age). Hayli stated that she used the fake identification to go to a bar once. Hayli was asked again about the glass jar containing the mushrooms. She stated that a friend gave them to her and that she knew it was some type of mushroom. Hayli was instructed to gather the alcohol containers and dump them out in the bathroom sink. Upon returning to the room, Hayli was placed under arrest for Possession of Psilocybin. A search of her person revealed nothing of evidentiary value. Hayli was transported to the UW-Whitewater Police Department where she was booked and allowed to walk back to her dorm room. The jar of mushrooms weighed 4 grams and tested positive for the presence of psilocybin. Hayli was found guilty for Possession of Marijuana, Underage Possession of Alcohol, and ID Card Violations. She was never charged for possessing the mushrooms and was ordered to pay $1168 in fines. This video is for educational purposes only.
