Dec 2019 - The Austin 1300 Super Deluxe had been garaged since 1979, although the engine was rust seized it had done only 47,000 miles. The bottom end of the engine was cleaned up and rebuilt using mostly the original parts i.e. pistons with new rings. Running on a very tight budget for the overall car rebuild, I hoped the cylinder head would be in fairly good order and requiring minimal parts. It just needed a skim, a good clean up and new seals. The coolant plug had probably shifted with corrosion expansion over the 40 years and ideally it probably should have been replaced but I'm hopeful that it will still seal now that it has been re-faced..we will see..Oh and you may notice that the cooling fan was fitted the wrong way around which has now been sorted out!
