A Crop to Feed the Soil

In order to improve the soil in a relatively new polytunnel growing space, I sowed an overwinter green manure. It grew really quickly in the protected microclimate, producing an abundance of biomass with the aim using it to increase the organic matter in the soil, and to feed the soil biology. But transitioning from a vigorous stand of vegetation to clear ground that a plant can be growing in is always a critical issue when growing green manures, and the context of this polytunnel growing space presented additional possibilities, and some issues.
