SKINMARKET was an eclectic cosmetic line aimed for the 'tween" market in early 2000. It had opened stores throughout malls in the U.S., it also had an online presence. Their online fan base was called "the underground girls," they were the early adopters of social media. SKINMARKET store often held special events, such as fashion shows with live dj's, free makeovers, free samples, and discounts. They also had private events only for the underground girls, which included free makeovers, samples and discounts. Despite it's cult-like popularity by the mid-2000's it had closed down all 30 of it's stores and was no longer in operation, due to management issues.
