3:59 -- An Admirable Topsider In the second chamber of Ortan Thaig, you'll find the grave for a surfacer who fought alongside the Legion of the Dead. This quest is about putting his sword back together again. There are three pieces to the blade: The hilt is/was looted from an emissary at Caridin's Cross. It can be found in the tunnel leading south-east from the Cross' South-West exit. 13:25, the pommel is in a vase in Ruck's cave. The blade-portion is looted from the boss-rank hurlock known as the Ancient Darkspawn. The Ancient Darkspawn appears in the Dead Trenches only after you've visited the Topsider's grave and have acquired the other two pieces of the blade. When all three pieces are yours, return them to the warrior's grave to complete the quest. 8:26 -- Lost to the Memories In the central chamber of Ortan Thaig, you'll find a chest containing some records. These record can be given to Orta in the Shaperate back at Orzammar. When House Ortan is restored, you can ask for a reward, which is 5 sovereigns. 9:44 -- Asunder Once you've collected 3 bags of limbs, (one in North-West chamber of Aeducan Thaig, one in the North-East chamber of Caridin's Cross, and one in the tunnel to Caridin's Cross' South-East chamber), you'll be able to interact with the altar in Ortan Thaig to summon a Pride demon. If you let it go, it rewards you with 25 sovereigns. If you kill it, you get 111XP for the kill. 13:37 -- A Mother's Hope Ruck is the son of Filda back in Orzammar. After speaking with him, you can report back to his mother his status. Filda will refuse to reward you if you admit to personally killing Ruck. The subject will make him think you are thief and will trigger a fight to the death. Before facing it, make sure to kill the Darkspawn emissaries and Corrupted Spiders in the east end of its chamber. These creatures will come to Queen's defense and can lead to you being overwhelmed. As long as you take care of her extra backup beforehand, the fight is pretty easy. She'll occasionally blast the party with webbing and summon more spiders, but just kill the back up as it arrives to avoid being overrun. After the Queen's death, loot it and examine Branka's Journal, which is near by. The journal reveals that Branka has gone to Dead Trenches. Exit Ortan Thaig through the West end to unlock the Dead Trenches.
