All aboard as we join Dr Thomas Spain for another episode of Curator with a Camera. Today, he looks at GNR C1 Class no 990 ‘Henry Oakley’—the first Atlantic type in Great Britain. Built from 1898, 22 of these locomotives were produced for the Great Northern Railway. The last one in operation was withdrawn in 1946. This episode was filmed at the National Railway Museum. Did you know it's our 50th birthday? https://www.railwaymuseum.org.uk/ WIN A THING! An exclusive model from Locomotion Models to be precise... To celebrate reaching 50,000 subscribers, we are giving away a superb model from the Locomotion Models website. The lucky winner can choose any model they like!
