This piece has so many different interpretations—some crisp and baroque, others more romantic—that it’s truly bewildering. With such variety, it’s easy to doubt yourself, wondering if what you hear in your own version has a place. My take on this masterpiece leans toward the romantic side. I feel a strong connection to the Russian Piano School I grew up with, where passion and depth are at the heart of every note. That influence definitely shines through here. But I’ve also tried to weave in many things I learned while studying in Europe. It’s my way of blending the soul of my roots with the lessons of my journey.
