Over the past three months, I’ve had one-on-one conversations with more than 200 financial educators across the country. These discussions reinforced a clear point: financial education is still a grassroots movement, powered by passionate individuals serving their communities in powerful, personal ways. Many financial educators shared common motivations rooted in lived experience and a commitment to helping others avoid financial struggles. Yet their backgrounds and methods are incredibly diverse - teachers, nonprofits, pastors, entrepreneurs, content creators, fintech builders, financial coaches, and counselors - each reaching learners in unique ways. Across most conversations, one challenge stood out: a lack of instructional time. Educators are committed to student achievement, but many are constrained by time limits that make it difficult to build true financial skills, confidence, and long-term capability. That’s why in 2026, the NFEC is doubling down on its commitment to financial educators. Expanding our support while accelerating advocacy to increase time, rigor, and standards in schools and community programs. Our mission is to close the gap between the limited time most programs receive and the real student outcomes educators strive to achieve. Our focus is to create more opportunities for professionals to deliver this impact. Financial educators are the backbone of student achievement. We appreciate you, we are committed to you, and we’re looking forward to moving the needle together.
