By following these steps and practicing regularly, you'll become more confident and proficient at hitting the clays at Skeet Station 4. This station is all about finding the right hold-point, maintaining focus, and trusting your muscle memory during the shot. By avoiding the temptation to measure the lead and instead allowing your instincts to guide you, you'll see a significant improvement in your performance (read more). Step 1: Positioning and Weight Distribution ・Stand with your hips facing the low house window. ・Distribute your weight evenly between both feet to maintain balance and stability. Step 2: Determine the Hold-Point ・Set your hold-point at a distance of about 20 feet from the house. ・The hold-point should be approximately one-third of the distance from the house to the center stake. ・Keep the hold-point level with the bottom of the window. Step 3: Eye Focus and Lead ・Look halfway between your hold-point and the high house. ・Imagine your eyes fixed at this point, and visualize the crosshair as representing the bead of your gun. ・The clay will break over or before the center stake. ・Avoid consciously measuring the lead, as it can slow down your gun's movement and result in a diminishing lead in your ShotKam videos. ・Instead, focus intensely on the clay and make a smooth, fluid movement towards the target line. Step 4: Approach Station 4 Low House ・The setup for Station 4 low house is similar to the high house but on the opposite side of the field. ・Maintain your weight distribution between your feet and turn from the waist to ensure controlled movement. Step 5: Hold-Point and Vision for Station 4 Low House ・Keep the hold-point at the same distance as for the high house, about 20 feet out and level with the bottom of the window. ・Maintain a low hold-point to avoid obstructing your vision with the gun barrel as you track the clay. ・Softly focus your eyes about 3 or 4 feet out from the window, not directly into the window, to give the clay time to emerge before your brain focuses on it. Step 6: Shooting the Clay ・Call for the bird to release it. ・Use sustained lead once you're on the line of the bird to hit the clay accurately. Step 7: Practice and Trust Your Instincts ・Regular practice at Station 4 will help you improve your shooting skills. ・Trust your instincts and muscle memory during the shot, and avoid overthinking the lead.
