In this video, we are in Austin, Texas for a stay at the Hotel Ella, a 4-Star, Michelin recommended property located on the edge of the UT campus. Seemingly considered one of the best hotels in the downtown Austin area, we wanted to explore this property given its status as a historic property. In 1878, Thomas Dudley Wooten, one of the founders of the University of Texas, purchased the land on which Hotel Ella now sits. Wooten’s son, Goodall, moved into the home on the property in 1900 with his new wife, Ella, who oversaw its transformation into a Greek revival mansion. The mansion then underwent an extensive renovation in 2013. So in this video, we'll show you our Petite Mansion Suite, our dinner at Goodall's (the on-site restaurant), and around the property (including the pool and lounge areas). Josh is originally from the San Francisco, California area, though his family moved many times during his childhood (including to Virginia, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas). Inez was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. We found each other in 2016, after we both moved to the Austin, Texas area for college, and we married in 2018! Inez worked in education and Josh in the legal field. We have since embraced our love of travel as a couple and we now seek to share those travels with you on YouTube! Why did we start the channel? While planning a trip, Josh found it difficult to locate resources that would provide a "real look inside" of certain hotels, restaurants, and at unique experiences. Without this information, Josh found it difficult to know whether the hotels, restaurants, experiences, etc. were worth the money or effort. No one likes to feel as though they've wasted their time or money on clickbait. As a result, we started this travel channel so that we could share our travel experiences with you in order to provide you with a "real look inside" at the places we visit. In doing so, we hope to provide the additional information we seek when booking our own travels! Hopefully our videos will help to answer some of the questions you may have regarding the hotels, restaurants, and/or experiences we feature in our videos. In that way, we hope to help you better decide for yourself whether any of these places are worth your time or money when planning your own travels. In Season 1, we learned how to film and create YouTube videos for the very first time. In Season 2, we continued experimenting with how to make videos, as well with the kind of videos we wanted to make. For Season 3, we hope to continue to grow and improve as content creators, as well to continue to provide you with interesting travel content (that hopefully proves helpful and entertaining)!
