Take classes with me - https://reasonio.teachable.com/ In this lecture/discussion session from my Fall 2013 Introduction to Philosophy class at Marist College, we continue our study of Plato's Symposium, turning our attention now to the middle three speeches -- by Eryximachus (the doctor), Aristophanes (the coming playwright), and Agathon (the tragic playwright and the host of the party). By examining their speeches, we get to explore a physical focused account of Love as harmony between elements, a funny fable that reveals a deep truth about human desire, and a well-constructed rhetorical address essentially identifying Love with the Good and the Beautiful (the Greek kalon kai agathon) Handouts on each of the speeches and the Symposium itself are available in the Teaching Documents section of my Academica.edu profile, here: http://reasonio.academia.edu/GregoryS...
