A 22-year-old deaf woman, Imy Harris, achieved her dream by being featured in British Vogue, modeling a designer cochlear implant. Born profoundly deaf, Imy struggled with isolation and frustration growing up, often being the only deaf student in school. She relied on lip reading and visual cues to communicate. But as she got older, Imy began seeing more representation in media and brands, empowering her to pursue modeling. In December 2023, she received life-changing cochlear implants, which helped her hear new sounds. Her collaboration with designer Destiny Pinto, who creates fashionable medical devices, led to her Vogue feature, which Imy hopes will inspire others with hearing impairments to follow their dreams.
