Minnesota is home to 75 state parks, 1500 miles of state trails, and more than 3000 public water accesses. These great resources are funded in part by our state tax dollars. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources says state parks and trails provide an opportunity to explore the the outdoors. Whether it's snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, biking, hiking, horseback riding, canoeing, kayaking, camping, birding, or geocaching, there's something for everyone during fall, winter, spring, and summer in Minnesota. Many parks even provide rentals so you can see and experience Minnesota from a different perspective. Fishing equipment, snowshoes, stand-up paddleboards, canoes, and kayaks are available at many state parks. Just check availability with the park before you arrive. The DNR also hosts events for people of all ages to enjoy. Candlelight walks, snowshoe and ski events, and ice fishing classes are among the winter events.
