We know how crucial it is that there is as little time wasted between the moment inspiration strikes and you being able to capture it, and how important it is that you can hear your ideas sounding polished and professional so you stay excited as you develop them. Each One Kit Wonder is captured to the same level of detail as our other libraries but comes fully mixed and ready to go so you can dive straight into writing creativity and hear your ideas immediately sound amazing. One Kit Wonder: Classic Rock takes us into a new sonic environment, delivering a totally bombastic and natural rock drum sound that evokes decades past. To nail the vibe we enlisted the help of our good friend, producer extraordinaire Pete Miles, owner of Middle Farm Studios (where we’ve recorded several libraries in the past). He’s not only an amazing and experienced engineer but also very knowledgeable about the era of recording that we wanted to highlight here. Pete produced the sample library but, being during lockdown, he painstakingly did all of the hits too - no small undertaking! One Kit Wonder: Classic Rock has the low, bangy snare, the huge boomy kick, and the big warm toms that you’d expect, alongside an array of oversized Big Beat cymbals, all recorded in the glorious Middle Farm live room, set up as reflective as possible for maximal ambience. The resulting sound is definitively classic in nature but with a bit of extra sparkle on top and the extended bottom that modern recording allows, compared to recordings from 50 years ago. The kit’s sounds haven’t been processed much at all for this One Kit Wonder, as you might expect given the intended genre, but we’ve included a really thick and colourful parallel compression signal path that you can engage within the GUI to push the vibe over the top. One of the biggest departures from our typical recording setup is that Pete used the Glyn Johns overhead mic array, which gives an amazing focus to the drum shells and it also gives the cymbals an authentic, narrower slightly quirky character which is spot on for the style. That said, to those working in modern heavy music genres, don’t overlook how huge the shells and room can sound if you process them up a bit and pair them with the cymbals from any of our other libraries. It's our hope that this sample library will remove frustrating barriers in your creative process so that you can enjoy making music to the fullest.
