Shanghai's 2025 tech carnival unveils robot helpers, smart desks and face-scanning health devices

The 2025 West Bund International Tech Consumption Carnival (WTCC), the world’s first AI-focused consumer tech event, opened in Shanghai on October 24, drawing nearly 50,000 visitors over five days. Besides its chess robot, SenseTime also presented “Raccoon-AI”, a practical AI-powered productivity tool. Another company, Stepfun, launched its AI Desktop Agent, which can organize local files, extract data, process invoices and manage social media content. Among the most eye-catching displays was a “Magic Mirror” developed by Feiputech. Without a blood test or wearable, it scans the user’s face to estimate up to 10 physiological indicators, including blood sugar, pressure and cholesterol, with over 85% accuracy. Priced between ¥30,000($4,000 USD) and ¥100,000($14,000 USD), the device is already being deployed in eldercare centers, insurance and healthcare institutions.
