Text: 1 Samuel 18 Verses 1-7 When you get into the palace, you must: 1. Serve the king. You must learn to please the king and serve him diligently. All your efforts in the palace must be directed towards the service of the king. In the office, you must fulfill your obligations because that’s what you are being paid to do. Don’t use the office time for personal objectives. 2. Burying your own agenda. You don’t go into the palace with your own agenda at hand. All you have to do in the palace is to carry out the kings agenda. Until you become a king, you must follow the king’s instructions. 3. Stay away from aggrieved servants. You must stay away from people that always look for ways to bring down the throne. You must stay away from people that always look for ways to bring down the organisation by the words and actions. Mixing with these people is a sure way to end up in stagnation in the palace. In every palace there’s only one king. The dynamics of advancement in the palace is to serve the king and learn how to be king. 4. Understand the protocol of the king There are accepted behaviours in the palace. You don’t act anyhow there. Vulgarity of any sort is not a part of being in the palace, it is not even a kingly attitude. The way you talk, write, walk and carry yourself is very important and must be watched and improved on consistently, if you want to thrive in the palace and become a king. There is a protocol of the palace. It doesn’t matter what you wear, it is how you wear it. You must act with utmost class and finesse if you want to thrive in the palace. 5. Behave yourself wisely. You must be wise in the palace, otherwise you will be relegated to the background. Palace behaviour requires courtesy and wisdom. Respect is very important to a king, and you must give him all the respect the throne requires. 6. Gain the trust of your colleagues. You must be able to gain the trust of the people in the palace and in your organisation. 7. Accept challenging assignment You must be able to accept your challenges in the palace. It is your work that enables you gain promotion in the palace. And these works are shown in the way you accept challenges. You must also be able to understand the language of the palace.
