Mi'kmaq-led Conservation Initiatives in Unama'ki Patricia Nash Manager, Unama’ki Institute of Natural Resources The 2025 Eastern Woodland Conference was held on Saturday, April 12th at NSCC Strait Area Campus in Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia. The Woodland Conferences are organized annually by a hardworking committee of representatives from several Nova Scotia groups interested in forestry. This year, our provincial committee included partners from the Nova Scotia Department of Resources and Renewables, Nova Scotia Woodlot Owners and Operators Association (Provincial Coordinator), Association for Sustainable Forestry, Mersey Tobeatic Research Institute, Nova Scotia Community College, Forest Nova Scotia, Confederacy of Mainland Mi’kmaq, and several private woodlot owners. Additional Eastern regional partners included Cape Breton Privateland Partnership, and NS Landowners and Forest Fibre Producers Association.
