Dr Amy Boyington explores the life of the remarkable eighteenth-century adventuress and businesswoman Teresa Cornelys (1723-97), who lived an exciting, but scandalous, life as an opera singer and impresario. She hosted lavish subscription balls at Carlisle House in Soho Square, London, where she also undertook substantial refurbishment of the house. Amy Boyington is an architectural historian and researcher whose work predominantly focuses on the architectural patronage of women in the eighteenth century. Georgian Group Short Talks are a series of ten- to twenty-minute talks on a variety of subjects relating to the Georgian period.
