In the present Video Ritesh Lakhi goes back in time to reflect upon the deplorable role played by ex President of India and Ex CM Punjab, Giani Zail Singh and Darbara Singh in leading to a pathetic state of affairs ahead of 1984 Operation Blue star. As part of series, this report by Ritesh Lakhi explore the political failure of the then congress governments both at Punjab and Union Govt levels to sense the situation and help diffuse differences with Sikh leaders in Punjab. In a bid to destablize Akalis and discredit Akalis of their agenda and in an attempt to paint Akalis as secessionists, the Congress leaders of Punjab predominantly Giani Zail Singh and Darbara Singh, both at logger heads with each other ended up messing the affairs up by their poor and motivated inputs and feedback to the Indian government and especially Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Ritesh Lakhi recalls the instance of August 1980 when Darbara Singh as CM presented and indicting report of Justice Gurdev Singh Commission in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha to discredit Giani Zail Singh by highlighting excesses and favouritism during his previous governments. Thus the mutual distrust and animosity amongh two top Sikh leaders of Congress led to poor ground reporting that was logically expected out of them.
