This is a night landing into London City from a few years ago. It is a steep approach landing with a 5.5 degree glide slope. London City is one of the most challenging airfields in Europe to operate into. This is due to the steep slope and high rate of descent. Also if you have to make a missed approach the heavy traffic heading into Heathrow is directly above you only 1000ft above your missed approach altitude. The cockpit bleep is the sound of the autopilot disconnecting. The idea is to have a slow transition into the flare at 50ft. Keeping the dive towards the runway takes some getting used to. You will notice two lights on the runway. You must have touched down by these lights or it is a mandatory missed approach More videos to come soon.
