So, Ratigan begiens to face himself as he truely is. While Basil, knowing Ratigan's fury has been releashed, tries to get Olivia away, while he praies that mercy will come and spare him. But, Ratigan's fury ends up being the down fall of BOTH Himself and Basil as they fall to a watery grave. Have they survied? Or have they been claimed by the river far below? The gray clips from the movie represent Basil looking back at the past. The entire color spectrum represents Ratigan looking back on the past.
