SWFL Eagles ~ OWL STRIKES On BOTH E's! E21 Hit Twice! E22 Falls Below Nest! They Appear Okay 4.7.23

It was a special night to have both E's roosting together side by side on the attic branch for the first time (E21 is closest to the cam). But at 22:30 (10:30pm) the Great Horned Owl came flying in from the east and strikes E21 from behind & knocks off the attic and onto the south part of the nest rails. E21 is crying out and flapping its wings but is able to make it back up into the nest. E22 is vocal and flapping its wings when E21 is able to make it back up. The owl flies to the front pines and waits planning its next move. Four minutes later, the owl leaves the front pines and targets E22 and knocks backwards off the attic. E22 falls and tries to hang on to the nest rails and hangs upside down flapping before letting go and landing on a branch in the crotch of the tree. E22 is crying out now from below the nest and is out of E21's view. E21 goes to the spike branch while E22 continues to vocalize. Twenty six minutes later, the owl returns and strikes E21 for a second time while it was perched on the spike extension. E21 is able to hang on this time and cries out. E22 is also heard crying out from below the nest. All three strikes are in regular time and slomo with views from cam 1 and cam 3. The owl strikes may or may not continue tonight at least with E21 visible on the spike (E22 looks to be more protected under the nest). Stay strong and safe E21 & E22! Thank you for watching!
