Test ride today: 2021 Arctic Cat BLAST ZR The video was shot on March 6, 2020 and ambient temperature was about freezing. This snowmobile reminds me of the original Polaris Indy – lighter and smaller than current trail sleds, but very capable. The big debate is, is this a “kids” sled or not? I think the answer is, it depends on what you want it for. It was a bit small for me, and a bit underpowered. But, I’m not exactly a small guy – for someone in that 4 feet tall to 5-1/2ft height range, it would be about right. For someone of a lighter stature (like most early teens), it would be perfect. For bigger adults, it’s a little small. I would ride this in a pinch, as a backup sled or to run errands. There are a lot of uses for it, as an adult. But, I wouldn’t give up a full-sized trail sled for this. Talk among those who tried the Blast was that top speed was probably in the mid-60’s. One gentleman who probably stood 6’4” tall and weighed maybe 250lbs stated he saw 65 on the speedometer. That’s plenty fast to keep up with many full-sized sleds on wooded trails, especially for teens or beginners. There’s a niche in the market between true kids sleds and adult sleds, and the Blast fits perfectly in it. I hope they sell a lot of them, to prove that the niche is worth their effort. Thanks to Pokegema Lawn & Sport in Grand Rapids, MN for the opportunity to ride it! *** Disclaimer: I’m not a professional rider or an expert. I’m sharing this video so that we can all learn together.
