The big moment finally arrived — after nearly a year of hauling water, running a generator for every little task, and figuring things out the long way… we brought solar power to the island. This episode follows the whole process — from hauling heavy panels up the big hill behind the house, to building a strong wooden mount that can handle those wild winter winds coming off the ocean. It was a lot of work, but it’s a big step toward a more self-reliant life out here. Somewhere in the middle of all that, the heat got to us — which doesn’t happen often around here. So we took a break and crossed the harbour to our favourite swimming spot — a little waterfall tucked into the woods. We went for a dip with the dogs, cooled off, and Kelly did some good old-fashioned sock washing right in the fresh water.
