A conversation with Oscar nominated producer Lawrence Turman. Mr. Turman discusses what it means to be a producer, how he collaborates with actors and directors, and his experiences working on many classic films. Also, the development of "The Graduate" from when he optioned the novel to eventually transforming it into a hit film starring Dustin Hoffman and directed by Mike Nichols. Mr. Turman received an Oscar nomination for "Best Picture" for "The Graduate" at the 1968 Academy Awards. Other producing credits include; "I Could Go On Singing" starring Judy Garland, "The Young Doctors" starring Ben Gazzara, "The Flim-Flam Man" starring George C. Scott, "The Best Man" based on the play by Gore Vidal, starring Henry Fonda, "Short Circuit" directed by John Badham, "The Thing" directed by John Carpenter. He is also the author of a great memoir about his producing career, "So You Want to Be a Producer".
