Prospero's Red Death - Last Masquerade

The fourth track of the _Bleeding Mask EP_, my switch to heavy metal for Prospero's Red Death. Recorded from December 2024 to January 2026. Keeping with the theme of a plague that destroys cities with a bloody outcome, this song shifts to an isolated locale where the wealthy and the powerful think that the plague can't possibly get to them, only to fall victim to it all the same. As they slowly die from the illness, which may or may not be represented by a masked individual, the last of their society slowly fades into the darkness, never to rekindle the light of life again... The process of composing this song almost caused me to rip my fucking hair out. Between work commitments, writer's block, the complex instrumentation, and trying to balance the volume of the different tracks, I struggled to come up with something that could provide worthy material for the EP and almost decided to exclude the song altogether. It wasn't until earlier this year that I finally came up with an idea that inspired me to finish it for the EP. Musically, this song jumps back to the heaviness of the first two songs, but the tempo is noticeably slower here. #redmoon #heavymetal #darkmusic
