Today, April 23rd, marks the day that The Ramones released their debut album back in 1976. Can you believe that Blitzkreig Bop came out the same year as Black Water by the Doobie brothers, Love Will Keep Us Together by the Captain & Tennille, and Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds by Elton John (OK, I had to look those up)? It's hard to believe that song is 37 years old and most of us were young kids or not born yet and yet that song and others by the Ramones remain a fixture on the set lists of many bands today who remember getting their first taste of punk rock through their songs. We actually played a Ramones trilogy at the Rock the Parkway half marathon and 5K last weekend so in tribute to the Ramones and their enduring brand of punk rock - Blitzkreig Bop!
