(SE4) In this video I will share with you a traditional Nian Gao recipes that I have learned from my mother, which she learned from her mother which is my grandmother which I never got a chance to meet. I am going to show you how you can impress your family and friends with homemade dishes prepared from simple ingredients. Most of the recipes I provide are tried and true recipes that I personally make on a weekly basis. Others will have enough flair such that you can also prepare them for special occasions. Traditional Nian Gao Recipe Ingredients 5 slices of Cane Sugar ½ cup cold water 600g of Glutinous Rice flour cold water as much as it needs for the flour to become a dough 2 Tablespoon Oil 1. Make the syrup but putting the cane sugar with the ½ cup water and boil it until sugar is melted so it becomes a syrup and let it cool 2. Fill your steamer with water and turn on the stove to high heat. 3. Weight 600g of Glutinous rice flour then pour in cold water slowly while mixing with your hands, use as much water as need to combine all the flour into a dough format. 4. You want to knead the dough until it becomes a ball and dough no longer sticks to the hand ( 3-5min) 5. You then want to slowly add the syrup into the dough so it becomes a batter, approximately 6oz to 8oz , you don’t want the batter too thin or too thick, you want to have the consistency of a pancake batter. 6. Then add the oil and mix well 7. Grease your pan and pour in your batter and steam for 1 hour 8. Once its done remove rice cake from steamer and let it cool before removing it from the pan. 9. Time to enjoy the Nian Gao as is, you can refrigerate the it, then slice it, dip it into beaten egg and pan fry if you like. Hope you like this recipe, thanks for watching!
