Oregon High Point | Skiing Mount Hood

In this video, a group of us travel to Oregon to summit Mount Hood, the tallest point in Oregon. Mount Hood is a stratovolcano in the Cascade Volcanic Arc. Most climbers access Mount Hood via the Timberline Lodge Ski Area. Our route started us at the Timberline Lodge where we followed the groomed trail until the top of the ski lift, then climbed up to Crater Rock. From there we went up and over the Hogsback and summited via Old Chute. We followed the same route on the way back down. Typically, climbers will summit via the Pearly Gates however due to recent warm temperatures, the bergschrund leading up to the Gates opened up quite a bit. Because of this, most climbers (including us) decided to to up and down via Old Chute. Because the Mount Hood climber's trail starts at a ski resort, we were able to ski all the way back to the car without switching to skins or boots. It was a great day on the mountain. I am on a journey to climb all of the 50 US state high points. This was number 14 for me.
