What does it mean to grow a cybersecurity career together? Amy Ertan, European Cybersecurity Fellow (2023–2024), shares how the fellowship became a space for community, collaboration, and long-term professional growth. Run by Virtual Routes, the European Cybersecurity Fellowship is a year-long programme for early- to mid-career professionals working across cybersecurity, technology, policy, academia, and civil society. Fellows take part in expert-led workshops, policy writing and debate sessions, and in-depth discussions on real-world cybersecurity challenges facing Europe, both online and in person. For Amy, the impact went beyond learning from experts. It came from joining a community that meets at conferences, publishes together, speaks together, and grows careers together. That shared experience of debating complex problems and learning alongside people from different backgrounds continues to shape her work today as a Cyber and Hybrid Policy Officer at NATO. 🚀 Applications for the 2026–2027 European Cybersecurity Fellowship are open until 8 February 2026 at 23:59 CET.
